Why Quinn Cook deserves to be an NBA starter

Quinn Cook is not playing in the NBA at the moment. He is currently playing for the Zhejiang Lions in the Chinese Basketball Association and has not played in an NBA game since 2021. Not only does Quinn Cook deserve a spot in an NBA roster, but he deserves to be an NBA starter. Here’s why.
For those who may have forgotten, Quinn Cook worked his butt off to prove he belongs in the NBA. After going undrafted in 2015 despite a decorated college career at Duke, he played a couple of seasons in the D-League, where he proved he was way too good to be there. He won NBA D-League Rookie of the Year in 2016, was a D-League All-Star in 2017 and 2018 (and All-Star Game MVP in 2017), and was a two-time First-Team All-NBA G League (2017, 2018).
Those performances earned him a deal with the Golden State Warriors, where he became a legitimate contributor off the bench in their title-winning season in 2017-18 and another Finals run in 2018-19. He played 17 games in each of those two playoff runs and provided some steady minutes at point guard.
With his ability to hit 3-pointers, play rugged defense, and provide ample leadership, Quinn Cook had the ideal skill set for a team with title aspirations. And that’s why it wasn’t surprising that he was part of another title-winning team, this time with the Los Angeles Lakers during the pandemic-hit 2019-20 season.
With two NBA titles, two gold medals while representing the USA in FIBA, and an NCAA title during his time at Duke on his resume, there should be no doubt at this point that Quinn Cook is a proven winner.
At just 29 years of age, Quinn Cook is still in the prime of his career and still has a lot left to offer to any NBA team, especially one that needs a veteran point guard who can run the show. With all that he’s accomplished, he is more than deserving of a starting spot, and whichever team is smart enough to sign him up will be lucky to have him on their team.
