Keeping a roster spot in the NBA is a very tall task. People get cut off each rotation very regularly in the league to a point where very fringe players don't get an opportunity immediately. Mac McClung was one of these players but he did stick around the league for a decent amount of years. So, how much did he make in the league during this time?
Despite having such a short time in the NBA, Mac McClung made a lasting impact alongside a name for himself which not a lot of players in the league could boast. He is most notably known for his insane acrobatic finishes and rim-rocking feats during the NBA Slam Dunk Contest. He won it in 2023 and 2024 which made him only the fifth player in league history to have ever achieved the feat.
Aside from those viral clips from the contests and some that were made in-game, McClung was not contributing much to winning basketball. Throughout his time in the NBA, he was passed around thrice. He started with the Chicago Bulls, landed with the Los Angeles Lakers, and ended his run with the Philadelphia 76ers. His highest salary at the time came with this last team because the squad from Pennsylvania gave him $170,000.
There is so much more to basketball than just dunking the ball and thriving off transition plays. McClung knows this but just could not capitalize on it which led to him eventually getting booted off the NBA completely. Hopefully, he experiences a career resurgence and makes his way back into the league before the twilight of his playing days come.
