Basketball was close to Trae Young's heart as he grew up. Before getting picked by the Dallas Mavericks and getting traded to the Atlanta Hawks, he was already poised to make a big name for himself in the world of hoops. This was largely because of the influence which came from both of his parents. How much have they poured into giving him a competitive edge and who are they?
Rayford and Candice Young are the Hawks star's parents. They raised Trae Young to be passionate in whatever he pursues. It just so happened that he also wanted to become a professional basketball player like his father. So, they made strides in order for all of that to happen. This is why Trae and his sister went on to join their dad in Europe such that they got up close with the sport.
The Hawks star loved every inch of this journey more and more over the years. Eventually, struggles started to hit Trae and he felt like a plateau in his career had come. This is where Rayford came in to inspire some motivation to his son: This is what it's all about. Do you wanna just stay in Norman and play with all your friends, or do you really wanna be one of the best?"
As time would tell, Rayford and Candice were successful in getting their son to reach his NBA dreams. Both were college basketball players who could not quite reach the pinnacle of their sport as they grew older. But, they do take pride in the fact that their son has become the successor of the Hawks and evolved to become one of the biggest stars in the world of sports.
