Many fail to understand the hardships that an NBA player has to go through before they put on a spectacular performance on the court. There are countless battles that these people have to win before even getting the recognition that they deserve. For Nate Robinson, it has been an 18-year struggle with a disease that may just have a toll on his life.
Nate Robinson revealed that he was diagnosed with a life-threatening kidney disease back in 2006. Despite this tough situation, he still managed to play in the NBA and even won the All-Star Slam Dunk Contest while he was at it. Years after learning the diagnosis, the former NBA star made his situation public and everything seems to be getting worse.
His kidney is less than 15% optimal than the one that a normal adult has. This has forced him to shift lifestyles and take on constant medication just to stay alive. Furthermore, he also experiences periodic pain in his guts which often results in vomiting. This constant need to be hospitalized might have prevented him from being a great star in the NBA.
Now, he has made it clear that he needs a kidney transplant as soon as possible in order to live. These tough situations are often hard for a lot of NBA fans to digest. They saw Robinson soar in the sky during his prime and it is hard to fathom that he was suffering at that time too. Hopefully, he will be able to find a donor and continue to live such that he could tell the story of his insane NBA career for a long time.
