Does He Believe It? Kyrie Irving on the Earth being Flat

The media has gone on to talk about Kyrie Irving a lot since he left the Cleveland Cavaliers. Some are still stuck with his promise to the Boston Celtics while others have not quite forgiven him for sharing a link to an antisemitic movie. However, a large majority of NBA fans still wonder if he still holds a certain belief ever since he moved to the Dallas Mavericks.
It has been years since Kyrie Irving made remarks which had people questioning if he was a flat-earther. In 2017, he was actively pondering on the idea of the planet being flat instead of oblate-spheroid. Many recall this moment because it was all that people could talk about heading into the NBA All-Star game.
However, not a lot of people recall the fact that Irving apologized for making such statements just weeks after. He admitted that there was a phase in his life where indulging in conspiracy theories felt nice and this is what came out of it: "I’m sorry. “To all the science teachers, everybody coming up to me like, `You know I’ve got to reteach my whole curriculum?’ I’m sorry. I apologize. I apologize.”
This was not the end of this discussion though. In an attempt to shield Irving from criticisms and join the discourse, Shaquille O'Neal went out to say that he also thought that the Earth was flat. Up to this day, many NBA fans have not let go of either of their statements. Regardless, O'Neal and Irving have learned to move past these issues while re-establishing their images in the world of basketball.
