Allen Iverson was truly 'The Answer' to every woe that the NBA had in the early 2000s. He brought ratings and merchandise up due to his insanely flashy way of playing basketball. Not to mention, the Philadelphia 76ers legend also rapidly increased the jersey sales off the court because he would often wear them as a fashion statement. Despite all of these contributions alongside a Most Valuable Player nod, he will always be the player who screamed about practice.
Every NBA fan knows how hard it is to get into the league and even maintain a roster spot on a team. However, some people think that stars are taking their opportunities for granted and not making the most out of their situation. Allen Iverson was certainly one of those stars because he often missed team activities.
The iconic lines that he lashed back to the media when confronted by this was very simple: "We sitting in here. I'm supposed to be the franchise player, and we in here talking about practice. I mean, listen: We talking about practice. Not a game. Not a game. Not a game. We talking about practice."
About a few years later, it was revealed that the 76ers star had something to drink before facing the media: "He was lit. If he had been sober, he would have been able to get himself out of that. He never would've gone down that path. Maybe you had to have been around him all the time to know the difference, but we all knew."
