Being eccentric in the NBA is rarely ever a good thing. A lot of fans will start to hurl vitriol at a player who does not seem to act right in their eyes. Scottie Barnes has been a recent victim of this criticism that's uncalled for. The Toronto Raptors star has largely been called someone who suffers from Autism due to the way he acts. In this article, we'll find out if there is any truth to this or some fans just have nothing better to do with their lives.
Scottie Barnes has such a large presence in the NBA. After Pascal Siakam and Fred VanVleet left the Raptors, the keys of the franchise were handed over to him. He did fairly well by notching his first All-Star appearance and keeping the team afloat while still giving them a chance to get Cooper Flagg in the Draft Lottery. His vocal leadership has him help a lot of his teammates and also makes him taunt anyone who comes his team's way.
All of these actions on the court along with the big things he says while live streaming are odd for some people. They think that Barnes often does not think about how his actions and statements would reflect off people. So, they have labeled him as someone who could possibly autistic.
All of this jeering and name-calling are exactly what they are. They are nothing but just ways to distract the Raptors star and throw him off his game. In reality, Barnes has not at all been diagnosed with Autism in this lifetime. He may just be a very eccentric person but the league along with the rest of its fans might not be ready to accept that.
