Everybody knows that Jalen Brunson has the NBA DNA inside of him. All of his athletic prowess may have come from Rick Brunson but there's someone who helped him reach unprecedented heights in life. From college basketball to the Dallas Mavericks and New York Knicks, she has been there for the guard and is constantly very supportive. Who could she be?
Well, it's none other than his mom. Sandra Brunson gave birth to Jalen Brunson on the 31st of August in 1996. Since then, she has learned to love her son in many ways. Unknown to most, it was not only Rick Brunson who was a star athlete in the family. Sandra was also an insanely talented volleyball player. In fact, Rick was the one who took care of schemes in basketball but Jalen's conditioning all comes from his mom.
The Knicks star also gives credit to his mom for how he was able to grow as a person both on and off the court: "Obviously my dad handled the basketball portion of it, handled like the working out portion. But my mom handled, legit, everything else. She was the general. She held me accountable for everything I did. If I was putting my mind to something I couldn’t quit until it was done. She basically gave me that no-quit mentally."
Despite not going professional after her stint with Temple University, Sandra has still kept herself busy. As of the moment, she is working for the Second Round Foundation. It is a nonprofit that she co-founded to help the youth regardless of their creed, color, or orientation. While Rick gets to spend a lot of time with Jalen on the Knicks, Sandra still pretty much takes care of everything else in their lives.
