It is not an uncommon sight to see different NBA players date the same people. Over the decades of the association's existence, there have been plenty of colleagues who have gotten to date someone who their teammates used to be with. However, Anfernee Simons and Brandon Ingram took this to another level. It was all evidenced by the New Orleans Pelicans' 105 to 103 win over the Portland Trail Blazers.
Usually, game-winners are not taken personal. Players can aspire to seek for revenge on the context of the court but there usually isn't anything more to it. The situation is very different with Anfernee Simons and Brandon Ingram. It is largely because they dated the same person. To take it to higher lengths, both of them have had babies with Aaleeyah Petty too.
The Pelicans guard was the first one to get into a relationship with Petty. They welcomed a child in the middle of the relationship which is speculated to have happened in 2019. Their son's name is Brenton. Things did not pan out well for the two which resulted into a breakup. Afterwards, she started dating the Trail Blazers young gun. As of the moment, they also have a son named Ace.
It may have been fate, coaches' schemes, or just intention which brought them to guard each other on the final play. It was Ingram who got the last laugh in the matchup. However, this win on the 25th of October was also the last time that the Pelicans won over the Trail Blazers. Since then, they've lost two games with a margin of more than 18 points in each.
