Tyrese Haliburton, a two-time NBA All-Star and Olympic champion, continues to make strides in his budding career. After signing a hefty $250 million contract extension with the Pacers last season, the 24-year-old has become the newest and probably the biggest athlete to sign with PUMA.
"I'm super excited to announce that I've joined the PUMA Family," exclaimed Haliburton. "I look forward to being a part of their commitment to the next generation of basketball. PUMA's vision and dedication to supporting athletes align perfectly with my goals, and I'm excited to represent the brand on and off the court."
Hali quickly rose through the ranks in the NBA thanks to his incredible passing, court vision, and ability to orchestrate an offense. He became a crowd favorite in Indy, and the Pacers are keen on building a system around their talented floor general.
His multi-year shoe deal is huge for PUMA's basketball line. It's reported that he will headline the Puma All-Pro Nitro sneaker and potentially the new $250 All-Pro Nitro Elite model this NBA season. There's still no official statement about whether Hali will have his own signature shoe, but it can be argued that, down the road, he can become what Steph Curry is to Under Armour and what Kawhi is to New Balance.
Haliburton initially signed a modest deal with Nike shortly after entering the league as the Sacramento Kings' No. 12 pick in the 2020 draft. But it was Hali's meteoric rise to superstardom in Indy that rightfully caught the attention of the entire basketball world, including Max Staiger, the Global Head of Basketball at PUMA.
"Since day one, we've always focused on the next generation of basketball at PUMA. Tyrese is not only defining his own generation but also is shaping the future of the game for many more to come," Staiger shared.
"We're extremely grateful for the opportunity to partner with Tyrese to continue working on our disruptive next-gen approach to basketball," he added.
Haliburton's draw, alongside LaMelo Ball, Skylar Diggins-Smith, Breanna Stewart, and Scoot Henderson, puts PUMA back in the mix. Fans can only anxiously wait for the potential release of Hali's first-ever signature shoe.
