The Dallas Mavericks seem to have an eye for franchise-altering European players. After seeing Luka Doncic ball out, Mark Cuban and the rest of the scouting team saw Luka Doncic prey on his enemies in the EuroLeague. Now, he is inheriting the franchise and even brought them to the NBA Finals. However, every insanely talented player has a mother that raised him well and took care of them. This is where Mirjam Poterbin comes in.
Many credit Sasa Doncic and his genes for the rise of the Mavericks star. However, he would not reach the same heights without his mother. Mirjam Poterbin was always very supportive of Luka Doncic from his moves that got him to Slovenia, Spain, and the NBA. She is no stranger to a lot of demands and constant public criticism because of her job as a game show host.
Moreover, it was not only the men in the Mavericks star's family that knew how to handle the heat of the hardwood. Poterbin stepped in to become Luka's manager and took care of all his contracts and negotiations such that he could freely ball out with Real Madrid as a teenager. After divorcing Sasa Doncic in 2008, Mirjam was the biggest constant in Luka's life. In fact, she even left her life in Slovenia in order to follow the young star as he joined the Mavericks. There is a lot of sacrifice involved in loving someone and Mirjam showed that by being a great mother to this upcoming all-time great.
