Many great basketball players have come from East Asia but no one has been able to match the talent of Yao Ming. This Houston Rockets legend was so dominant that not even Shaquille O'Neal or Dwight Howard could stop him in his prime. However, his career was cut very short due to injuries. So, who stuck by his side amid these really tough times in career? Well, it was none other than his wife, Ye Li.
Yao Ming and Ye Li both met when she was still studying in Houston. The two had a lot of similarities. Both of them were outliers for their ethnicity due to the freakish stature that they possess and they also lived in the same area at the time. Not to mention, she understood the Rockets legend a lot because of her stint with the Chinese women's basketball team in the 2004 Olympics.
It was not hard to see that the two had a lot of similarities. So, they started dating and eventually grew as a couple. The two got married in 2007 and have not stopped loving each other since. They even welcomed a daughter into the world in 2010.
As of the moment, Yao Ming has been working for various executive positions in basketball. Most notably, he is currently an international ambassador for FIBA. Furthermore, Ye Li also dabbled in basketball but just could not sustain her career. There is not much information about what she does now but one would think that it would not be far from his husband's duties due to how recognizable she became.
