Fans of the Los Angeles Lakers probably know how impactful Kurt Rambis was back in the era of Magic Johnson, Kareem Abdul-Jabbar, and James Worthy. Little do they know that his wife, Linda Rambis, has also been responsible for ushering in the dynasties of Shaquille O’Neal, Kobe Bryant, LeBron James, and Anthony Davis. How big of a role has she played exactly?
Linda Rambis has been part of the Lakers family ever since she dated Kurt. She saw how great Dr. Jerry Buss constructed championship-winning teams and learned a thing or two from him. When the late Lakers owner passed and the organization was handed down to Jeanie, one of the first people that they hired were Linda and Kurt.
Linda formally joined the Lakers organization in 1999 and has only had an upward trajectory from there. She was a Special Projects Associate during the last year of Kobe Bryant’s career and moved up to Executive Director of Special Projects when LeBron James joined them in 2018.
She has now become one of the most powerful women in all of basketball and even sports. In fact, she could very well be helping the Lakers tie up the banner count with the Boston Celtics through their acquisition of Coach JJ Redick.
