7-time NBA All-Star Damian Lillard has divorced his college sweetheart Kay'la Hanson because of irreconcilable differences.
Who Is Kay’la Hanson in Lillard’s Life?
Kay’la Hanson was a pre-med student in Weber State, where the two met, becoming college sweethearts. Lillard said that Hanson was the person who helped and took care of him. She was someone who accepted all of his flaws as a young man.
After college, the couple went on separate ways to achieve their dreams. Lillard focused on his professional basketball career, while Hanson started her career as a nurse.
They dated for 10 years before finally getting engaged in February 2020. Lillard shared with Ebony Magazine how he flew out their family and friends to Chicago to witness the beautiful moment. The two tied the knot in September 2021.
Lillard has faced challenges throughout his entire career, and Hanson was there to support him. He suffered an injury in 2021, and he gave credits to his wife and children for helping him get through physical rehabilitation.
The two have three children together, a son and twin daughters. Damian Jr. is the eldest, born in March 2018, and twins Kali and Kalii were born in January 2021.
The divorce was filed just five days after his transfer to the Milwaukee Bucks for the 2023-24 season, playing alongside Giannis Antetokounmpo. The point guard remains committed with the team for the 2024-25 season as well.
