Lakers legend Pau Gasol’s basketball career flourished. From NBA titles to Spanish Awards, his success is something admirable. Behind all that success is the immense support of the love of his life, Catherine McDonnell. Alongside are their children, Max and Elisabet, and another one is on the way, as they announced in July 2024. But who is Catherine McDonnell?
Meet Catherine McDonnell
While Catherine McDonnell contributed greatly to her husband’s path, she didn’t fail to mold her own as well. Catherine has a Bachelor’s and a Master’s in Communication and Business from USC.
Her endeavors were not set on only one path. When she graduated, she traversed the world of public relations, followed by a sales and marketing career, then became a sports broadcasting reporter. Her diverse career portfolio did not stop there, as she also became a project manager and a vice president in various organizations.
Marriage and Family
Although it is unknown when the two first met and started dating, Pau Gasol and Catherine McDonnell went public in 2016 and got engaged the same year. They got married in 2019 with a public marriage ceremony.
After a week, they held a private ceremony and shared the special event on Instagram. Pau captioned, “Our dream continues! Yesterday, we celebrated our recent wedding in my home country and I [am] happy to tell you that I am the luckiest guy in the world!”
After a year, they welcomed their first child, who they named after Gianna Bryant. Elisabet Gianna Gasol became a big sister in 2022 when the couple welcomed their second child, Max. They are expecting a third one as announced in July 2024.
