Joel Embiid will extend his stay with the Philadelphia 76ers, as he has signed to a new three-year, $193 million maximum extension, with a player option in 2028-29, per multiple reports.
The 30-year-old center is still in the second year of a $196 million extension he signed before the start of the 2021 campaign. Since then, Joel Embiid won his first MVP in 2023, made it to the All-NBA First Team for the first time, won the league's scoring title, and made two more NBA All-Star teams.
After signing his new max contract, Joel Embiid took to Instagram to express his desire to be a Sixer for life.
“I want to be here the rest of my career. I love this community and everything you’ve given me and my family,” Embiid wrote. “There is a lot more work to do. You guys deserve a championship, and I think we’re just getting started.”

This summer has been a busy one for the Philadelphia 76ers, as before locking down Joel Embiid to a new max deal, they signed Paul George for $212 million and four years and awarded Tyrese Maxey a five-year, $204 million extension.
Other than that, Philadelphia added more depth with the free agency additions of Andre Drummond, Eric Gordon, Reggie Jackson, Caleb Martin, and Guerschon Yabusele.
