Guerschon Yabusele is back in the NBA after signing a new one-year, $2.1 contract with the Philadelphia 76ers following his superb performance in the recently concluded Paris Olympics.
The 28-year-old power forward won his second consecutive Olympic silver medal with the French national team. He finished this year's quadrennial meet with an average of 14.0 points and 3.3 rebounds on 51.9 percent shooting from the field in six Olympic games.
His Olympic performance included a spectacular poster dunk over Team USA's LeBron James during the gold medal match.
Guerschon Yabusele spent two seasons from 2017 to 2019 with the Boston Celtics after being selected with the 16th overall pick of the 2016 NBA Draft, but he only made 16 appearances.
He then spent a season with the Nanjing Monkey Kings in China and another in ASVEL in France before going to Real Madrid and helping his team win the 2022-23 EuroBasket championship.
Guerschon Yabusele's role with the Philadelphia 76ers
The Philadelphia 76ers have been one of the most proactive teams this summer, as they managed to add Paul George, Caleb Martin, Reggie Jackson, Eric Gordon, and Andre Drummond via free agency while re-signing Tyrese Maxey, Kelly Oubre Jr., KJ Martin, and Kyle Lowry before acquiring Guerschon Yabusele.
Yabusele is expected to play behind Caleb Martin at the No. 4 spot. The Frenchman can also play center if head coach Nick Nurse goes for a small-ball lineup.
