Victor Wembanyama had a great rookie season with the San Antonio Spurs. It just got better when the franchise signed Chris Paul.
It’s a power move, for sure, but it’s more than just acquiring the talent and the experience Paul has. Here’s how Chris Paul will guide Victor Wembanyama to greatness.
Chris Paul’s Influence & Mentorship
Wemby is already a great player, but there’s no denying he could be even better. It’s the more obvious statement to say that Chris “CP3” Paul has been impressive in helping the big guys meet their best versions.
Paul may be already old now, but he’s still a notable player. For years, Spurs haven’t met the spotlight, but Chris Paul changes all of that. CP3 with Wemby could help pull stars into the franchise and become a window to getting more signings.
Last season, Wembanyama managed to register 21 points per game. While that number is great, there was an obvious offensive struggle for the Spurs to look for Wemby in their games.
Chris Paul will help eliminate these struggles with his great passes. With his successes in throwing for other players, it will be easy for him to set Wembanyama up for dunks or open opportunities.
Having a Hall of Famer in the team will help balance the young Spurs team. The experience and talent that Paul will share may contribute widely to the development of these young stars, especially Victor Wembanyama. Who knows, maybe this mentorship will eventually lead to a championship contention.
