It’s nothing new that athletes are also fans of sports aside from their own. Although born in New Jersey, New York Knicks Jalen Brunson revealed through the Monday night football broadcast which football team he’s rooting for. It’s non other than The Philadelphia Eagles.
Why the Eagles?
Jalen was born in the South of New Jersey, where people grow up to be Philly fans. Being in Villanova for three years definitely strengthened the love he has for the team as well.
Needless to say, Brunson has been a lifelong fan of the Eagles. He has shown support for the franchise through their ups and downs. In fact, he even cheered them on against the Atlanta Falcons during their home opener.
Brunson was seen with Jason Kelce, a former center of the Philadelphia Eagles, and even made a short video for the fans.
"What up, Birds Fans? Jalen Brunson checking in. Home opener, it's gonna be a good one," the Knicks guard said.
Knicks Fans’ Backlash
Knicks fans were not thrilled about Brunson’s support for the Philadelphia Eagles. They have been vocal on social media about how ‘absurd’ it is that the ‘King Of New York’ is supporting a different football team.
The Philadelphia Eagles have a historic rivalry with the New York Giants. Although Jalen is not mandated by the law to support the New York Giants or the New York Jets, Knicks fans have been on his back about it.
Jalen Brunson will be back in the NBA court to play for the New York Knicks, and possibly fight harder to retain his title as the fans' King.
