Los Angeles Lakers forward LeBron James is aware he is closer to retiring from the NBA, so he is slowly planning for what's next after he officially calls it quits.
In his latest appearance on the GoJo and Golic show, the 39-year-old NBA star expressed interest in potentially working in the booth as a sports broadcaster, similar to Tom Brady, who's working for FOX to cover NFL matches.
“I see Tom Brady doing it, he's been great so far,” James said on the show. “We will see, even if it's just a guest appearance, a game or two when I am done playing, but it's always fun to give back to the game.”
LeBron James is no longer new in the media world because he is one of the owners and regular guests of Uninterrupted. He has also starred in the movies Trainwreck and Space Jam: A New Legacy and in various TV commercials.
When will LeBron James retire?
LeBron James still has two years left on his current Los Angeles Lakers contract. He will earn roughly $49 million in 2024-25 and has a $52.6 player option in 2025-26 before becoming an unrestricted free agent in the summer of 2026.
His focus right now is sharing the court with his eldest son, Bronny, whom the Los Angeles Lakers selected with the No. 55 overall pick in this summer's NBA Draft.
