After winning his first NBA championship last season, Boston Celtics forward Jayson Tatum is eyeing more trophies, including the prestigious regular season MVP award, in 2024-25.
During this summer's Paris Games, the 26-year-old star also won his second Olympic gold medal for Team USA. However, he was mostly sitting on the bench, so he'll use this as motivation to be even better.
"It was a unique circumstance, something I haven't experienced before in my playing career. But I'm a believer that everything happens for a reason," Tatum said. "I was coming off a championship, highest of highs, cover of 2K, a new contract, and that happened. Whatever the reason is, I haven't figured it out yet. But I am a believer that everything happens for a reason."
"You haven't seen like the best version of Jayson Tatum," the five-time NBA All-Star added during the Boston Celtics media day.
Jayson Tatum's stats in 2023-24
Jayson Tatum had another strong year for the Boston Celtics, averaging 26.9 points, 8.1 rebounds, and 4.9 assists on 47.1 percent shooting in 74 regular season games in 2023-24. During the postseason, he averaged 25.0 points, 9.7 rebounds, and 6.3 assists per night.
However, the one thing to nitpick about Tatum is his shooting efficiency in the playoffs, as he only shot 42.7 percent from the field and a woeful 28.3 percent from three-point land.
According to reports, Jayson Tatum is working to fix his shooting mechanics with renowned NBA trainer Drew Hanlen.
