The Newport Beach, California, police department conducted a thorough investigation into the accusation of an improper relationship with an underage girl. However, they were unable to find corroborating evidence of the claims, leading to no charges being filed against Giddey.

The Newport Beach Police Department released a statement mentioning that their detectives reviewed all available information but were unable to corroborate any criminal activity related to Giddey. Additionally, the minor and her family were reportedly unwilling to cooperate with investigators, which may have contributed to the lack of corroborating evidence.

While the police investigation concluded with no charges filed against Giddey, the NBA is still conducting its own investigation into the matter. Despite being cleared by the police, the league is continuing to review Oklahoma City guard's conduct, as reported by TMZ.

NBA Commissioner Adam Silver stated that the league takes a "back seat" during an ongoing criminal investigation. He also mentioned that the NBA does not typically suspend a player based solely on an allegation and emphasized the importance of an ongoing criminal investigation. Despite the allegations and the NBA's investigation, Giddey has continued to play for the Oklahoma City Thunder throughout the probe, appearing in 39 of the team's 40 games this season.
