Former NBA star Montrezl Harrell has reportedly agreed to a new short-term deal with the Adelaide 36ers, according to ESPN's Olgun Uluc.
Harrell, 30, will shore up the Adelaide 36ers' frontcourt, as he will be an injury replacement for Jarell Martin, who is recovering from a patellar tendon injury.
Before moving to Australia, Montrezl Harrell had a successful NBA career, as he played eight seasons with the Houston Rockets, Los Angeles Clippers, Los Angeles Lakers, Philadelphia 76ers, Washington Wizards, and the Charlotte Hornets.
In 515 games, Harrell posted career averages of 12.1 points, 5.0 rebounds, and 1.3 assists on 59.8 percent shooting from the field. The former second-round pick didn't play a single game last season due to a torn ACL.
Montrezl Harrell's most successful NBA stint was when he played for the Los Angeles Clippers from 2017 to 2020. He won the 2020 NBA Sixth Man of the Year award after averaging 18.6 points, 7.1 rebounds, and 1.1 blocks in 82 regular season games while coming off the bench.
Montrezl Harrell becomes one of the highest-profile players to feature in the NBL
Montrezl Harrell is not the first NBA player to take his talents to Australia, as the likes of LaMelo Ball, Aron Baynes, Josh Giddey, Matthew Dellavedova, and Andrew Bogut have also played before in the NBL.
If the Adelaide 36ers plan to extend Montrezl Harrell's services to have him alongside Jarell Martin, the team would need to deactivate a homegrown player.
