Why did Matthew Sluka transfer out of UNLV?

The College Football Transfer Portal has been tough for many programs. Oftentimes, they tend to over promise in order to notch a big-name prospect. UNLV has been accused of this and it is a big reason why they are losing Matthew Sluka despite their deal earlier in the year. What happened and where is the former Holy Cross quarterback going now?
UNLV was already off to a hot start in their 2024 campaign. They won all three of their first games but then a controversy popped. Apparently, the Rebels promised Matthew Sluka some money before he made the decision to leave Holy Cross. To be exact, he was reportedly supposed to get about $100,000 off NIL cash from the school but the payments apparently never came.
So, it was very easy for him to pull the plug on UNLV and put his name on the College Football Transfer Portal. He even outlined his intentions in a post before leaving: "I committed to UNLV based on certain representations that were made to me, which were not upheld after I enrolled. Despite discussions, it became clear that these commitments would not be fulfilled in the future. I wish my teammates the best of luck this season and hope for the continued success of the program."
UNLV saw that the deal they made with Sluka was against the NCAA's Pay to Play rules. They even asserted that the young quarterback was given all that was available for them to give but it was just not enough. As of the moment, the Rebels have benefited off those wins with the former Holy Cross signal-caller and are now eligible to compete for a bowl title. Sluka, on the other hand, has a draft eligibility clock running as he has still yet to land with a team.
