A lot of care goes into raising someone who ends up becoming a star athlete. Countless hours of extra work along with being present in each game are all vital in order to keep a young gun's confidence up. This was not at all a problem for Cam Ward's parents. They knew what it took for their son to get close to the Heisman Trophy. Despite falling short, his mother and father might still have a College Football Playoff National Champion when the year ends.
Calvin and Patrice Ward welcomed Cam Ward into the world on the 25th of May in 2002. At a young age, the young boy showed promise and interest in becoming a professional athlete. His environment in Lake Jackson, Texas has also enabled him to become a better person of character in sports. However, being able to raise him did not come without any sacrifices.
See, Calvin was a fuel buyer for their local nuclear power plant. This meant that he needed to be away from his family at times in order for him to work. However, all of these barriers did not stop him from being able to support his son whenever he has games. This tradition of making it to Cam's astonishing performances on the field started during his high school days up to his playing tenure with the Miami Hurricanes.
Patrice, on the other hand, was the more hands-on parent. Aside from being a special education teacher, she knew what it took to raise an athlete because of her time as a basketball coach. She instilled discipline on Ward and allowed him to play as organized as possible. All of which have also helped Cam Ward in being able to develop an insatiable hunger when it comes to winning games.
Both Patrice and Calvin must be very proud that their son became a Heisman Trophy finalist. In the stretch of the next few months when the College Football Playoff and NFL Draft commences, they could very well see the life of their child change in front of their very eyes. Hopefully, they feel that their sacrifices have become worth it due to his success.
