Only few coaches have become synonymous to college football programs. Urban Meyer is definitely one of them. His insane brilliance ravaged the SEC for years and even helped the mid-2000s Florida Gators become one of the most dominant programs in all of sports. How is he doing now and what is his net worth? Urban Meyer has been predominantly seen on television these days. Prior to this stint as a commentator and analyst, he was one of the brightest minds in college football. He started making money as an assistant coach for the Ohio State Buckeyes after college. Then, his coaching career brought him to programs like Notre Dame, Bowling Green, Colorado State, and Illinois State.
Eventually, a life-altering offer was given to him by the Florida Gators. His first deal came in 2005 where he notched a $14 million contract for a span of seven years. Re-negotiations came along just two years later after a six-year extension was reached. Finally, he got the honor of being the highest-paid SEC coach of all time in 2009. This contract got him a huge bag that was worth $24 million in six years. Ohio State gave him a deal he could not refuse which forced him to leave the Gators. He stayed with the Big Ten powerhouse for most of the 2010s.
After exiting college football, he went up to the NFL. However, his success just would not translate into the pros. The Jacksonville Jaguars could not live up to the very high expectations of their head honcho. This led to him leaving the team in December of 2021. Effectively, his coaching career was done but it was not at all bitter despite his latter years. This was because Meyer earned a whopping total of about $35 million in terms of net worth. He is still widely-regarded as one of the best coaches and analysts because of his spread offense and it shows with his paychecks.
