Boise,ID– The Boise State Broncos have a history of NFL talented players. However in the 2024 season a the 5’ 9” tall running back for the Broncos has had one of the best seasons in college football history but how did Ashtony Jeanty go from living in Italy to becoming a Heisman finalist and soon to be first round pick.
Ashton Jeanty was born in Jacksonville, Florida and later moved to Italy as his father was a Petty Officer and he began his football career on the military bases he started as a quarterback before he was moved to running back after two games. After dominating the military bases Jeanty rushed for 1,200 yards and 21 touchdowns in six games. After that season Jeanty told his parents he wanted to return stateside and they did just that.
Jeanty then played his highschool football in Frisco, Texas and was a four star recruit by 24/7 coming out of highschool. He rushed for 1,843 yards and 41 total touchdowns in his senior season and he committed to Boise State for his college career. In his first two seasons he split the load with other running backs but in the 2024 season he became RB1 in Boise and he made the most of his opportunity.
Jeanty in his first game broke records with 267 yarda and 6 touchdowns breaking a Boise State record and a Mountain West record. That wasn’t the only record Jeanty would finish second all time college football rushing record with 2,601 yards and 29 touchdowns as he led the NCAA Divison I FBS in yards and he finish second in the Heisman voting but won the Doak Walker Award and Maxwell awards and leading Boise to the number four seed in the first ever 12 team playoff before declaring for the 2025 NFL draft.
The one thing outside of football that Jenaty did that was amazing was he stayed at Boise State. In a world where players often go chasing the NIL money, Jeanty stayed at Boise State. As he had committed to Boise and the players and coaches and will possibly go down as one of the best players to ever play college football at the running back position to not win the Heisman but Heisman or not Jeanty is still one of the best players to ever play college football.
Jeanty is currently predicted to be a first round pick in the NFL draft some have him going to the Dallas Cowboys in which he said that would be a dream come true for him. Other mock drafts have him falling to the Denver Broncos in which would help them find the answer to their RB1 problem in Denver to pair him with their phenom quarterback Bo Nix and Sean Paytons ground and pund offense would be a great fit for Jeanty. Nonetheless be ready for Jeanty to be one of the first names called in the NFL draft in April.
