Exploring Tim Tebow's Faith: His Religious Denomination

While Tim Tebow is remembered as someone great at football, he also had a very high-profile evangelical faith life. Having American missionary parents, Tebow was born in Makati City, Philippines, on August 14th, 1987; thus, his life began in a religious setting. The Tebow's, Bob and Pam, and their son Tim, are missionaries (Baptist); the type of passion for faith inspired by their work in the Philippines has also done wonders for preaching as they laid down some serious groundwork on which to develop strong Christian beliefs.

Tebow is a proud Christian whose faith can be at the core of who he is. Evangelical Christianity is a movement within Protestantism that holds to the authority of scripture, requires personal conversion, and shares faith with others as part of its belief system. He is a devout Christian who prays, reads the Bible, and attends church on a regular basis.

That faith has dramatically affected Tebow's career and public presence. At the University of Florida, College football star Tim Tebow won two national championships and a Heisman Trophy in 2007.

Tebow's faith remained a central element of his image in the NFL. His public demonstrations of Islam and his vociferous denunciations of "spreading the faith" were both embraced by some and panned by others.

After his NFL career, he attempted to play professional baseball and kept working with the Tim Tebow Foundation. The foundation's mission is to bring faith, hope, and love to those needing a brighter day in their darkest hour of need. The cause reflects Tim Tebow's commitment towards serving as perhaps his greatest purpose outside of being an NFL quarterback.
