Fantasy team looking banged up heading into week seven? Here's a few players worth picking up on the waiver wire...
1. Tyrone Tracy Jr., RB, New York Giants
Tracy continues to get the bulk of the Giants carries, and even with Devin Singletary returning in week seven, the expectation is that Tracy will be the starter. The rookie has rushed for 208 yards and a touchdown, but has the explosiveness to really break out as the season goes on. He's a solid flex play but probably is not yet ready for consideration as a starting fantasy RB.
2. Bucky Irving, RB, Tampa Bay Buccaneers
Another rookie running back finding success in 2024, Irving has rushed for 328 yards and a pair of touchdowns already this season. With Rachaad White banged up and likely to miss the Buc's game on Monday Night, Irving is expected to get the start for the second week in a row.
Again, careful to those looking use Irving as a starting RB. He should still be considered more of a flex play, especially with a good Ravens defense coming to town.
3. Josh Downs, WR, Indianapolis Colts
Downs continues to build on his strong rookie season last year, and is slowly taking over as the Colts top receiver. So far this year he has a pair of touchdowns and 239 yards to his name, while averaging four-and-a-half receptions per game.
Downs is closing in on Michael Pittman Jr. to be the Colts WR1, and while he probably isn't there yet, it's worth keeping your eye on. Again, good flex option for the week.
4. Juju Smith-Schuster, WR, Kansas Chiefs
It's crazy that no other team in the league wanted Smith-Schuster. The TikTok sensation and former Pro Bowl wideout with the Steelers has found a home in Kansas City. In his first game starting with the team after Rashee Rice went down with an injury, Smith-Schuster went for 130 yards on seven receptions. He looks healthy and ready to go, and the 49ers defense has struggled this season, so expect another big game out of Smith-Schuster.
5. Zach Ertz, TE, Washington Commanders
Zach Ertz is having somewhat of a renaissance year with new QB Jayden Daniels in Washington. He looks healthy and comfortable in the offense, something that hasn't been the case for the past few seasons. Ertz has received five or more targets in three of the Commanders' six games, and has two games of over 60 yards. He recently went for 68 yards, his most in three years.
He is also yet to find the endzone, which may be a good sign, because he hasn't had to rely on the touchdowns for fantasy points. If he does start scoring, he will be a good option as a starting TE. In deep leagues, he already is a fine choice to start at TE.
