New York Jets fans tend to be ruthless on the quarterbacks that get to run their team. After all, it is a yearly spectacle to see this squad collapse after having a very hopeful off-season. No one caught the most vitriol out of any player than Zach Wilson. This young gun tried his hardest to make do of what was available but just could not push the team enough. However, he did get paid a pretty penny for all of his efforts.
Zach Wilson was seen as the panacea for the Jets' offensive woes. He became the youngest starting quarterback at BYU and delivered there. However, the NFL is very different from college football and he along with the rest of the fans would learn that the hard way. Wilson struggled despite getting picked up with the second overall pick of the 2021 NFL Draft.
Those woes remained stagnant and even got worse as their offense continued to shift after every few weeks. There was just not a system that the Jets could settle on which made life very difficult for Wilson. He did not get to finish his four-year rookie deal with the team from New York because Aaron Rodgers arrived. Now, he is doing fairly decent with the Denver Broncos as their reserve.
Wilson is still very young and has a lot of football to play in his life. However, he has amassed quite the cash in his career already. From deals with the Jets and Broncos alongside deals with Verizon and Nike, he has notched a net worth of $10 million. If he continues to pursue this path to becoming a starting signal-caller again, Wilson could very well see those figures skyrocket during his NFL tenure.
