There is a realistic shot for the Philadelphia Eagles to win the 2025 Super Bowl. Many of their successes during this tough campaign can be attributed to Saquon Barkley. The running back finally found a team that is competitive when facing outstanding opponents. However, he never really forgets his humble beginnings and where his parents raised him. Let's get to know them better in this article.
Saquon Barkley is a native of Pennsylvania - he was born in Bethlehem. His parents, Tonya Johnson and Alibay Barkley, were not at all well off. In fact, they struggled to make ends meet and even had to sacrifice a lot in order to take care of their five children. Oftentimes, money would just fall short and the star had to face reality while he was growing up.
It even reached a point where Tonya and Alibay had to vacate their home due to lack of funds. As a result, Saquon knew what it felt like to be homeless for a long period of time. This is why he rarely takes any of his earnings for granted: "I’ve been homeless before. I was probably six or seven and we got evicted. I bounced around. Having the support of family and friends helped us, and that got us back on our feet.”
For his parents, they took have gone on to enjoy their lives due to the success they've been given. Tonya is now handling philanthropic efforts at MetLife Stadium too.
Running during football games was not just a matter of leisure for the young Saquon back then. He ran routes, stiff-armed defenders, and hurdled over safeties because of the desire to keep his family out of the streets. Now, everything seems to have paid off. The only thing that he needs, as a cherry on top, could be a Super Bowl victory with the Eagles.
