Years after Tom Brady left the New England Patriots, they still have not been able to get back up into title contention. Jerod Mayo already has a great signal-caller in Drake Maye but there is just something lacking in their squad which prevents them from notching a lot of wins. The answer to this conundrum could come in two parts - the 2025 NFL Draft and Travis Hunter.
It is no secret that Travis Hunter is a one-of-a-kind player. He went out and won the Heisman Trophy despite being fielded to play two positions by the Colorado Buffaloes. This man redefined what the term 'dual threat' means because he excelled at being a wide receiver and a cornerback. Coach Jerod Mayo may find exactly what he's looking for when they end up picking Hunter.
Rumors of the Patriots' willingness to draft Hunter have started since the projections got a little bit near towards the end of the season. So, he is very aware that the storied franchise and the players in it may want to have him. The Heisman Trophy winner even went on to comment on these rumors in a very positive light: "Trav and Drake Maye? That'd be tough!"
At the end of the day, the fate of the Patriots and Hunter lies in the hands of however the next two games in the NFL go. Some squads might want Hunter and they could be lucky to the point where the first overall pick lands in their lap. However, if Coach Mayo and the rest of the front office does want to reciprocate the draft prospect's excitement, they may just trade up come the big night.
