Is this Josh Allen’s year?
Is this Josh Allen’s year?

Things are looking good for Josh Allen this season: he’s currently having an MVP season, the Buffalo Bills just clinched a playoff spot and he just got engaged to Hailee Steinfeld.
While the Kansas City Chiefs currently have the best record in the AFC, they clearly don’t look as strong as they have in their two previous Super Bowl seasons.
While it’s certainly foolish to count out Patrick Mahomes and the Chiefs, it seems that this is the year the Bills have a chance to take the AFC.
In twelve games played this year, Josh Allen has MVP caliber numbers: 20 passing touchdowns to only five interceptions, 2,691 passing yards, 64% completion percentage, 100.3 passer rating and six rushing touchdowns.
Allen’s stellar season has propelled the Buffalo Bills team as a whole this year. The Bills have already amassed 10 wins this year, currently hold the second seed in the AFC and have already clinched the AFC east division.
With the Chiefs being a vulnerable team this year, it seems like this is Josh Allen’s and the Buffalo Bills chance to take the AFC this year.
For the past three seasons, Allen and the Bills have failed to get out of the second round of the playoffs.
Last year, Buffalo were at home in the divisional round against the Chiefs, but lost to the eventual Super Bowl champions 27-24. In 2022, the Bills were beaten 27-10 against the Cincinnati Bengals who would eventually lose to the Chiefs as well.
In 2021, Allen and the Bills suffered their most playoff loss in recent history when the team lost to the Chiefs in the divisional round in Kansas City. The game is colloquially known as “13 seconds” because of Mahomes tying the game in the final 13 seconds of the game.
The furthest Allen and the Bills have been in the playoffs was 2020. That season, the Bills cruised through the first two rounds of the playoffs after defeating the Indianapolis Colts and the Baltimore Ravens.
Eventually, Allen and the Bills would run into the Chiefs and ended up losing to them in the championship game 38-24.
It appears that Mahomes and the Chiefs have been the kryptonite for Allen and the Bills. Allen has defeated Mahomes before in the regular season, but never in the playoffs.
Allen is currently in his seventh season in the NFL. During his time in the NFL, Allen has led Buffalo to the playoffs every year except his rookie year, he has made two pro bowls and was named second team all-pro in 2020.
Allen has been extremely successful in the NFL and has created a winning culture in Buffalo, but he and the team have yet to win the big one. Like Allen, the Bills have never won a Super Bowl.
They went to the big game four times in a row from 1990-1993, but failed to win any of them. With the Chiefs having somewhat of a “down year” this year compared to their standards, now would be the time to strike for Allen and the Bills.
