Mel Kiper has the sharpest eye when it comes to talent in the NFL. This is why he is entrusted with analyzing each and every incoming draft class such that fans could get a glimpse into who their fans could be acquiring. This job is one that has him doing a lot of things all year round. Thankfully, he has a wife to mellow him down whenever the occupation gets too tiring.
Kim and Mel Kiper have known each other for a very long time. She was his avid supporter long before he became this big shot analyst at ESPN. There is no timeline about when the two dated but they did get married in 1989. After that, they decided to move to Baltimore where their family's foundations would start to get made.
Despite the rough schedule of being a man in sports media, Kiper bore a child with his wife. He has been a very present father during their pregnancy and has evolved to be a supportive one as their daughter grew up. However, football is still the primary thing on his mind regardless of how many years his marriage has lasted.
In fact, even Kim knows that this is what his husband's priority is and she is not ashamed to admit any of that: "Once I offhandedly mentioned the name of a childhood friend from my hometown, a small place in western Maryland. Mel immediately started spitting out his college stats and telling me how good a player he was. But if I ask Mel to recall anything else, forget it. He couldn't get 10 miles down the road to the store without detailed directions, even if we drive it 50 times a day. It's like all of his memory is taken up by football."
