A lot of stressors come from being a top-picked quarterback in the NFL. This means that someone could need a spiritual anchor in order to survive all of the vitriol from fans and tough criticisms that come from coaches. Jameis Winston has navigated the league for almost a decade now and it could be all thanks to how much he believes in Christianity.
Jameis Winston has been a Christian for such a long time now. He started to have this turn in faith at just eight years old. The quarterback was then shocked by the sudden death of his grandmother. This led him to being further away from the religion but he ended up going back during his time with Florida State. He largely came back because of feeling lonely.
Since his rediscovery of the faith, Winston has not let go of being Christian. He may have gotten short stints from NFL squad after getting drafted first overall in 2015 but this faith has kept him hanging. Now, he has found himself with a starting role yet again with the Cleveland Browns. A lot of the things in his life have worked out very well because of how much he believed.
In fact, most of his wins during the 2024-25 season have been attributed to how much he surrenders himself to the Christian lifestyle: “Unwavering faith. Ultimate belief. Depending on the Lord. Depending on the Lord should have been first. He gets all the glory. Thank you, Jesus. Thank you for this win. I’m just grateful. I’m grateful that the Lord provided me with this opportunity. I’m grateful for my teammates, my coaches, and these amazing fans.”
