It is one thing to meet one's idols at a young age but it is a whole new level to have been able to date their child. Julian Edelman was clearly a fan of Jerry Rice while he grew up. He ended up transitioning into being an elite wide receiver with the New England Patriots and often ran the same routes as the San Francisco 49ers star. His connection to one of the greatest pass catchers of all time far exceeds that though.
Julian Edelman used to date Jaqui Rice. Yes, she is Jerry Rice's daughter. Apparently, the two met when they were in high school. It was a big deal for the Patriots legend because he grew up near San Francisco where the 49ers played. So, he just could not contain his itch and snooped around their house when the two were dating.
At one point, Edelman was about to take Jaqui to prom. However, an opportunity of a lifetime came knocking. It was that he got to see all of the memorabilia from Jerry Rice's storied career. He immediately took the chance to try out some of the gear and touch big pieces of NFL history. Up to now, he could not believe that this happened: "She took me to her prom. I did wear those Super Bowl rings I used to go into his office all the time, he was never home so I'd be over there playing with his balls, his Super Bowl balls. I saw jerseys, it was crazy. Jerry Rice bro, I was a Bay area kid he was a f***** legend."
Obviously, Edelman and Rice did not end up with each other. But, it is just a cool fact that two of the greatest wide receivers of all time crossed paths before one was even on the rise to NFL stardom.
