The Indoor Football League is still around and remains a major contributor to our beloved arena football scene here in America. As of 2023, the IFL plays its game with two conferences and 14 total teams playing a full 16-game season over just under 19 weeks.
History of the IFL
IFL Founded: The IFL originated in 2008 from the merger between Intense Football League and United Indoor Football. It has one of the largest amount of active teams among indoor football leagues. It is the longest-running professional indoor football organization in existence, having first started play in 1998.
Current Teams
There are currently 14 teams in the league with their own office addresses, phone numbers, and official social media pages along with head coaches. All these teams are spread in at least half of the states: Arizona, California, New Mexico, Texas, Wisconsin, Iowa Florida Massachusetts Illinois South Dakota Nevada Oklahoma
Recent Developments
The IFL has also undergone recent expansions and re-branding as with teams like the San Antonio Gunslingers and Jacksonville Sharks slated to debut in 2023. Another sign of the league's expansion and growth, they announced an expansion team in Tulsa OK as early as 2023.
League Structure
The IFL is one of the most active indoor football leagues in terms of the number of teams that play each year within it. With the league playing 16 games spread over a period of 19 weeks, fans have every reason to drool all over what is an elongated season that provides enough action for them during this tricky footballing market.
Notable Achievements
The IFL has solidified its position as One of the Country's Top Indoor Football Leagues The league is Ameirca's longest continuously run indoor football league and has a rich history going back to its first season in 2009. For instance, the Bay Area Panthers won their first-ever title last week, proving yet again how competitive and hard-fought games have become over time.
Yet far from extinct, the IFL thrives across a spectrum of participants and existing franchises as apposed to some arena options now long past. Its growth and little by little maturation is what makes an impact in the world of indoor football, a place where fans get close games every week with true sports competition.
