The story of Aaron Hernadez's trial and how he died is very well-known by the NFL world. There have been countless documentaries and creative adaptations of it throughout the past decade. But, there is not much known about his life before football. We'll uncover one fact about the journey he took and the role of his father amid all of this chaos.
Aaron Hernandez had a troubled childhood and upbringing. His father, Dennis Hernandez, often resorted to corporal punishment to discipline him and his siblings. Obviously, this resulted in bruised and a lot of physical marks in the short run. While every wound healed, his emotions and mentality also got hampered by the abuse that he faced.
Regardless, Dennis would often make it up to his sons by teaching them football. After all, he had big dreams for the growing tight end to play for the UConn Huskies. Then, a recurring hernia kept bothering Dennis which forced him to get surgery. It was just supposed to be a clean and quick operation but complications arose. This led to his unfortunate death in 2006.
All of these also mean that Dennis did not get to see Aaron Hernandez play for UConn despite having the starting role in his first year. Despite all the bruises and heartbreaks he endured due to his dad, he still kept his promise of making it to the NFL. He eventually notched a big role with the New England Patriots as the team became a dynasty while he was there. It was just a tough sight to see that everything he worked for got halted because of the crime he committed against a semi-pro football player.
