The Seattle Seahawks was very tough to run in the mid-2010s. This team was always so close to the Super Bowl but just needed the extra push. Then, a switch flipped in Pete Carroll's head which helped the squad reach football immortality on the backs of Russell Wilson and the Legion of Boom. Obviously, the head honcho had a lot of help from his coaching staff but the stressors still often got to him. This is where Glena Goranson came in to ease the mind of the winning head coach.
Much like many love stories in the NFL, this one started in college. Glena Goranson and Pete Carroll met at the University of the Pacific. He was balling out with their football squad while she was dominating the courts as a volleyball player. It was not hard to see that they understood each other because both of them were athletes. So, they clicked and eventually got married in 1976.
You read that right! The former Seahawks head coach has been married for nearly half of a century. Their love gave way to the birth of three kids. Two of their children ended up liking football because of their dad too. So, they followed his footsteps. One became the offensive coordinator for the Arizona Wildcats while the other worked with Pete as a Senior Offensive Assistant.
The two have gone through a lot of ups and downs over the years. These are very unavoidable because of how long their relationship has lasted. At one point, Coach Pete was even allegedly cheating on her with someone from USC. However, those allegations were vehemently denied and everything fizzled out. Now, it looks like the two still have a very healthy marriage. A lot of what he did with the Seahawks can be attributed to how supportive of a wife Glena Goranson is.
