There are a lot of NFL players with a troubling past. Some of them have remaining loose ends in their life while others have gone on to resolve whatever baggage they had entering the pros. One of these stories revolves around Demetress Bell and his mother. The two were primarily just with each other before he got signed by a team and their lives involved Karl Malone.
Demetress Bell's mother is Gloria Bell. Yes, she is the same person who Karl Malone got pregnant despite just being 13 years old.
Back in college, Karl Malone was regarded to be one of the most era-defining power forwards of his generation. His biggest rivals were legends like Hakeem Olajuwon, Charles Barkley, and David Robinson. His numbers at Louisiana Tech primed him to become a top prospect in the 1985 NBA Draft. However, there were rumors going around that he got someone pregnant during his time with the Bulldogs.
It would take decades to verify the information but Demetress Bell, the son of Gloria Bell, came forward as he got drafted into the NFL. It was then confirmed by a DNA test that the then 13-year-old was impregnated by the Jazz legend. Malone failed to pay any sort of child support and reparations to the family until a court had to rule him to do so. Eventually, he reached a settlement with the family.
As of the moment, Gloria and Demetress are living relatively peaceful lives as the latter also carved out a career for himself as an NFL offensive lineman for four seasons.
