The path toward becoming a medalist at the Olympics is never easy. Kenny Bednarek may have just had it more difficult than the other people who he had to go up against. See, he was adopted at a young age and never really got to have a relationship with his biological parents. So, who raised this Team USA track star and how did he get to where he is now?
Kenny Bednarek was adopted by Mary Bednarek. Alongside him was his twin brother who was also taken in by their adoptive mother. Mary was very supportive of his children and never really missed a track meet because she valued supporting her kids. This support, love, and care would pay off because, little did she know, one of them would become one of the greatest sprinters in the world.
There was definitely some promise that Kenny showed when he was younger. However, he took it to a whole new level when he decided to pursue sprinting fully. He has now gone on to win two silver medals in the Olympics. One came in the 2020 Tokyo Olympics while the other was from the 2024 Paris iteration of the competition.
A lot of his success is attributed to the kindness of his adoptive mother. Up to this very day, Kenny has a lot of love for Mary due to how she treated them: "We worked through everything. The heart that my mom had, the perseverance to go through adopting four kids by herself and sticking it through. She's inspired me to be a better person every single day. "And she's inspired me to keep living my dream because I wouldn't be here without her."
