There have been a lot of stars that took their chances in pole vaulting and ended up successful in that endeavor. However, none have done it quite like Armand 'Mondo' Duplantis. From the Europe to the World and the Olympics, he made everyone fans of the sport due to his insane flight and masterful way with the pole vault. A lot of this success might even come from genes and a long training arc that started when he was just a toddler too.
Mondo Duplantis would not be where he is right now without his parents. His father, Greg Duplantis, was a pole vaulter for Team USA too. This is where he largely gets his acumen for the sport and the love for it. He saw how his father rose up to very tall heights. After retiring from competitions, Greg continued his passion for pole vaulting by coaching young talents who hoped to make the Olympics. More than that, he also taught his son the proper forms and techniques such that Mondo would succeed in his path.
His mother, Helena Duplantis, also had some very athletic genes. She played seven sports at LSU and even became a solid star for their volleyball team back then. Helena's father was also a highly-skilled pole vaulter which meant that she could easily teach Mondo the same things that his father would miss out on during practices. It was very clear that their son would be a generational phenom in the sport and Mondo has not disappointed so far.
Mondo has won a gold medal in every level of pole vaulting whether it's in the European or World Championships to the Olympics. In fact, he could very well set an insanely high world record if not for the fact that breaking it every time meant that he would get some monetary compensation.
