The usual debate in the sports gear world always involves the checks and three stripes. A lot of people have both of these brands on top of their lists over any other company that makes apparel. But, what does make Adidas special and how many athletes are they sponsoring?
For starters, Adidas does not just sponsor athletes. They also ink deals with teams like Juventus, Real Madrid, and Chelsea among others. When it comes to players, the number is growing by the minute because the renowned brand is not afraid to invest internationally and locally. In fact, they sponsored 850 athletes in the Olympics alone.
The most recognized faces of the brand have also made a hefty bag because of their deals. Lionel Messi is arguably the greatest football player of all time and he is with the three stripes. Furthermore, icons like Mohammed Salah and Paul Pogba all have deals with Adidas too.
It comes to no one's surprise that Adidas' market share primarily consists of their hold on football. They are offering an estimate deal value of $1.26 billion off this one sport but have also diversified. James Harden and Donovan Mitchell are the biggest names that have come out of the brand outside of football. They have helped the three stripes notch an endorsement value of $48 million in the realm of basketball.
Overall, Adidas' support of their athletes is greatly exemplified by their total athlete deal value of $1.45 billion which still plays second fiddle to Nike.
