Katin Houser will enter his freshman season with Michigan State with a ton of hype behind him. Now that can be a good thing or a bad thing.

But judging by the early signs, it seems like Katin Houser has the eagerness and the drive to live up to those high expectations.

MSU will have a lot of incoming talent for the 2022 season. However, it’s their depth at quarterback than provides the most intrigue, especially now that Katin Houser is in the mix.

A four-star recruit out of St. John Bosco High School, Katin Houser wasn’t even supposed to go to Michigan and was initially committed to Boise State. But a sudden change of heart has led him to East Lansing, where he looks to make a statement early.

The 6-foot-3 signal-caller does have good size for the position, along with his canon of an arm and excellent skills in the pocket.

Katin Houser has even shown the instincts of a true leader at such a young age — a quality that endeared him to MSU head coach Mel Tucker right away.

Obviously, Payton Thorne is still QB1 for the Spartans, following his amazing sophomore season in 2021 where he set a school record for touchdown passes (27). There’s also going to be stiff competition for that QB2 role, as redshirt sophomore Noah Kim and redshirt freshman Hamp Fay will look to break into the rotation.

While we haven’t seen what Katin Houser can do on the field at the collegiate level just yet, we know he’s already working extra hard to prepare himself for the new challenge.

Katin Houser has been on campus since the beginning of the year and has made tremendous strides in the weight room. Coming in at just 206 lbs., the young star has reportedly added 12 lbs. of muscle in preparation for the physicality of college football. Now that’s dedication!

Katin Houser was even seen throwing several high-difficulty, "NFL-level" throws during practices.

It is also worth noting that Katin Houser will be reuniting with his high school receiver Germie Bernard in Michigan. The chemistry between these two is off the charts and we can’t wait to see it carry over in college. For sure, we all need to keep tabs on Katin Houser in the coming years.
