Michael Keller Ditka, a.k.a. "Iron Mike," was born on October 18th, 1939, and is from Carnegie, Pennsylvania. Ditka's rise to one of the most well-to-do figures in NFL history started with his exceptional 12-year playing career.

Ditka played college football at the University of Pittsburgh and was selected in the first round, fifth overall of the 1961 NFL Draft by the Chicago Bears. Ditka exploded onto the scene, winning NFL Rookie of the Year in 1961 with a league-leading 58 receptions and club record-tying dozen TDS.
