Why Mike Macdonald is spicing up the Seahawks training camp

It was yet another disappointing season for the Seattle Seahawks during 2023. Geno Smith could not get much going and they also had to part ways with Pete Carroll. So, a new era in the system had to be ushered in with the entrance of Mike Macdonald. The new head honcho is now open to playing with other teams in the preseason and has even reshaped Seahawks training camp.
Mike Macdonald has introduced a championship belt for the side that wins the most per day at the Seahawks training camp. Charles Cross was the one who wore the belt signalling that the offense led by Geno Smith had triumphed over their defense.
The new Seahawks head honcho unveiled why he likes this new dynamic to their training camp, via The Seattle Times.
"The belt is something that's kind of fun to just mix it up and spice it up throughout camp. You know, 'Who's holding the belt?' And then we can change the criteria of how you challenge it. "The criteria is ever-changing. I do reserve the right to switch it up on the guys. But it's exciting. And based on where the team is going, it's kind of a way to push buttons here and there and edge guys on if someone needs a little push. Put a little belt on the line or something like that. So it's fun,” he declared.
It even sounds like the new change has been welcomed and even improved team dynamics. The biggest sign of this was Geno Smith giving a lot of credit in the offense’s daily training camp win to their lineman. Cross absolutely loved how their synergy has been building up.
"Shoutout to Geno. I was talking to him saying, 'Well, offense won the game,' and he said, 'Give it to an O-lineman. Charles has been having a great camp.’ It's just a trophy to the offense, saying how well we did today, just coming back for a second day of pads and just continuing to improve and get better day by day,” the tackle declared.
The vibes have certainly been immaculate for the Seahawks training camp.
