Brian Daboll and the New York Giants did not have a great 2023 run. Despite Tommy DeVito rising into stardom in the middle of the season, their entries in the win column were fairly scarce. They only had six wins and finished third in their division. So, Kayveon Thibodeaux aims to radically change the outcome of their upcoming campaign. His plan involves the help of Brian Burns and Dexter Lawerence.
The Giants offense is clearly going to need a lot more improvements after the quarterback conundrum that Brian Daboll experienced in the previous season. So, it will be up to their defensive menaces to make a name for themselves and start winning the squad some games.
This is exactly how Thibodeaux imagines their next campaign would go, via AP News.
“Greatness, nothing less. feel like that’s going to be something you guys hear from me every year, every time you ask me, just because we work too hard, and we’ve done so much to get here that now we’re too deep in it to turn back now. So, this is going to continue to strive for greatness, and whatever that looks like in my career,” he declared.
The edge rusher may have recorded 11.5 sacks in the previous year but he still needs help. This is where he had a lot of praise for Dexter Lawrence and Brian Burns.
“He’s a fast, twitchy guy. I’m more of a long, powerful guy. I can show him a few things. He can show me a few things. And while we’re in the rush, right, I know how he’s going to approach his offensive tackle, and he knows how I’m going to approach it. So, we kind of unleash it, and we just continue to play,” he said about mentoring Burns.
On the other hand, he also hopes to learn from Lawrence’s defensive chops.
“Dex, he’s the biggest signing we got. And then we got two edges that are committed to throwing their shots. So, I think when you look at just the run defense in general, we’re coming to play. Every down is a one-on-one. So, whether it’s a nine-on-seven run, or it’s pass rush, everyone is a one-on-one, and we’re here to win them,” he added.
Will they finally reach the postseason once again with this type of mentality?
