Michael and Angel Webb Reese come from Maryland, where they were nurtured into basketball lovers. After one year at Boston College, Michael transferred to Loyola University in Maryland and blossomed as a hoopster. At Boston College, Michael Reese already had an intensely competitive basketball reputation. He then transferred to Loyola and became a star player, playing in 40 games over the next two seasons for the United States AAU national team. He spent the next several years playing basketball professionally in Europe and gained international exposure.

Angel Webb Reese's basketball career is equally impressive. For much of her time at UMBC, she was a dominant force and lovingly termed "otherworldly" in performance.
