To become a dominant athlete in any field would mean a lot of support from the people who one grew up with. A'ja Wilson experienced just that with his parents. From being born in South Carolina and representing the Gamecocks in college all the way to her rise in the WNBA with the Las Vegas Aces, both of them were a steady presence in the star's life. So, how are they doing as their daughter continues her ascent into women's basketball immortality?
A'ja Wilson was born to Eva Rakes and Roscoe Wilson. They welcomed her on the eighth of August in 1996. The family was enamored by South Carolina and treated the place as their home. As a result, it was an easy decision for the young basketball star to choose the Gamecocks as her preferred destination in college. Obviously, there were struggles in the early parts of her career but they helped her get out of tough situations.
Growing up, her mom would be the one who was more present in her life. This was largely because her dad played professional basketball overseas. Eva was a court stenographer and was a great mentor to A'ja while she grew up. Meanwhile, Roscoe would often find times in the middle of his offseasons to bond with his daughter. It almost always revolved in basketball as she had him as a coach throughout her AAU run.
Now, both of them are just happily supporting and cheering for the Aces star whenever they can. Moreover, they have also gotten involved in multiple philanthropic efforts due to their roles in the A'ja Wilson Foundation. Up until now, they have been nothing short of great parents and role models to her. It's not hard to see why she grew up very talented with people like these nurturing her.
