The Carpenter still got it! Clay Guida chokes out Brad Boulton at Fury Pro 4
The Carpenter still got it! Clay Guida chokes out Brad Boulton at Fury Pro 4

Clay Guida may have gone 2-3 in his last five UFC fights, but it’s clear he has a ton of fight still left in him. His amazing performance in the recently concluded Fury Pro 4 over the weekend is a clear indication that the 40-year-old scrapper is still the same energetic beast he’s always been.
Clay Guida, a proud Fan Arch athlete, was supposed to take on fellow UFC veteran Alex Caceres in the highly-anticipated grappling match. However, Bruce Leeroy was a late scratch due to a back injury. Good thing Brad Boulton stepped in on three hours notice and gave Clay Guida a good scrap.
Despite the opponent’s last-minute replacement, Clay Guida stuck to his game plan of using his superior wrestling and overwhelming pressure to get his hand raised. After negating Boulton’s attacks from the guard, including what seemed like a tight armbar, Clay Guida absolutely smashed his opponent and got the W with a tight arm-triangle choke at the 7:22 mark of the fight.
That was a textbook finish by the UFC veteran, who applied all the elements of a good arm-triangle choke. Clay Guida had the position, torque, grip, and a frightening squeeze to finish it off.
RESPECT to the President 🙏 @Super_Brad steps in on three hours notice to face @UFC Hall of Famer @ClayGuida in his own co-main event! @CFFCMMA

Sure, Clay Guida wasn’t able to fight Alex Caceres, but that’s completely out of his control, right? The replacement fighter Brad Boulton is actually the Vice President of Cage Fury Fighting Championships (CFFC), but he’s no slouch. He has a black belt under Renzo Gracie in Philly and went 2-2 as an amateur MMA fighter before becoming an executive in the promotion.
Kudos to him for stepping up against an absolute animal like Clay Guida! And props to Clay Guida as well for getting the job done, regardless of who was in front of him.
Clay Guida, meanwhile, fought the final fight on his last UFC contract, losing via kneebar to Claudio Puelles. While his future with the UFC remains unclear, we would certainly love to see more grappling fights from The Carpenter.
